Save a message

Keep a copy of any Discord message in your own direct messages with the bot, with a link back to the original, so you can find it again after it scrolls away.
🖱️ How to save a message
- In a channel of a server where YAWBDB is present, find the message you want to keep.
- Right-click it (on a phone: press and hold it).
- Choose Apps, then Save Message.
- A private note appears, only for you: Message saved! Check your DMs.
- Open your direct messages with YAWBDB. The copy is there.
Save Message is a right-click action, not a typed command. There is no /save and no !save, and it is not reachable through a text command prefix.
📬 What the copy contains
The bot sends you one message with:
- the author's name and avatar
- the text of the message (or "No content" when it had none, for example a message that was only an image)
- an Original Message field with a Jump to message link
- the first attachment only: shown as a picture when it is an image, otherwise as a link to the file
- the time the copy was made
It does not copy a second or third attachment, the message's own embeds, stickers, polls or reactions.
🔘 The three buttons
Under the copy there are three buttons. They only change your own copy; nothing happens to the original message.
| Button | What it does |
|---|---|
| ✅ | Turns the copy's side stripe green. Use it for "done" or "kept". |
| ❌ | Turns it back to red (red is how every copy starts). |
| 🗑️ | Asks "Are you sure you want to delete this saved message?" with Confirm Delete and Cancel. Confirming replaces the copy with "Message deleted." Cancel puts the copy back as it was. |
The colours are a way to sort your own saved messages. They mean nothing to anyone else.
💡 Example
A moderator posts the rules for tonight's event in #announcements and you want them handy.
- Right-click the message, then Apps, then Save Message.
- Open your DMs with YAWBDB and press ✅ on the copy once you have read it.
- Next week, scroll to the copy and click Jump to message to go back to the thread.
🔧 When something goes wrong
🚨 I do not see "Save Message" under Apps
YAWBDB registers its commands server by server. If none of its commands show up on that server, tell a server admin: see Bot permissions and Feature not appearing. If the other commands work and only this one is missing, check that you are right-clicking a message (not a user or a channel): it only appears on messages.
🚨 Nothing arrives and Discord says the application did not respond
The bot could not send you a direct message, and it only confirms after a successful send. Your DMs are closed for this server. In Discord, open the server menu, then Privacy Settings, and switch on Direct Messages. Then save the message again.
🚨 The copy shows "No content"
The original had no text, only an attachment, an embed or a sticker. A picture is shown inside the copy; embeds and stickers are not copied.
🚨 The original was edited or deleted afterwards
The copy is a snapshot taken when you saved it. It does not follow edits, and it stays even if the original disappears. The Jump to message link only works while the original exists.
🚨 The copy is gone
Nothing is stored on the panel or anywhere else. The only copy is the direct message in your Discord. If you delete that message or clear the conversation, it is gone.
