Email notification preferences

YAWBDB lets users control which email notifications they receive.
Email preferences are available from the profile settings.
📍 Where to find preferences
Open:
Profile → Email Notifications
The page shows notification types relevant to your account, roles, and linked services.
🔔 Common notification types
Depending on your account, you may see preferences for:
- Account suspension or reinstatement
- Support ticket replies
- New chat messages
- Platform announcements
- Unban appeal updates
- New unban appeals on your servers (staff)
- New message reports
- New support tickets
- Discord report replies
- New Discord reports for staff
- Discord ticket replies
- New Discord tickets for staff
- Friend requests
🎭 Role-aware preferences
Some preferences only appear when they apply to you.
For example:
- Server moderators may see report or appeal notifications.
- Support staff may see support ticket notifications.
- Discord-linked accounts may see appeal update notifications.
📧 Chat message emails
New chat message emails may be rate-limited to avoid flooding your inbox.
Chat message emails are only sent while you are offline, and at most one email per conversation every 15 minutes.
🔕 Opting out
You can disable notification types you do not want.
After changing the toggles, click Save Preferences.
Changes apply to future emails.
Some important account or security emails may still be sent if they are required for safety or account management.
💡 Best practices
- Keep important security and staff notifications enabled.
- Disable noisy notifications if you actively use the panel.
- Enable email notifications if you are responsible for reports or tickets but are not always online.
- Review preferences after your role changes.
📧 Mailings & unsubscribe
Occasional product mailings (release news, important updates) are controlled by the Product news & mailings toggle, separate from event notifications. Every mailing also contains an Unsubscribe link in its footer, and the mail app's own Unsubscribe button works too. The text of a mailing is written in English for the whole community, while its footer (the Unsubscribe and Email preferences links) is written in your account's language. The link opens a page that shows your address (partly hidden) and asks you to confirm: nothing changes until you click Unsubscribe me, so no login is needed. Once unsubscribed, a Clicked by mistake? Re-subscribe link on the same page puts you back on the list; it needs a click as well, so a mail scanner that opens every link in a message can neither unsubscribe you nor put you back. Opting out of mailings does not affect the transactional emails you enabled (security, ticket replies and so on).
